Microsoft has confirmed the bug which allows SMS messages to force shutdowns as well as disable access to the Messaging hub upon reboot. No confirmation yet on how Windows Phone software was compromised, but they are testing a fix with wireless carriers.
They are also testing how other desktop applications could be affected including:
- Windows Live Messenger
- Windows Live Mail
- Silverlight based apps
- Visual Studio 2010
- Expressions Blend
- Windows Presentation Foundation based apps
Greg Sullivan, Microsoft’s Senior Product Manager for Windows Phone, confirmed the fix is being tested and that a timetable for release is still unknown.
We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything regarding the update.
