Windows Phone 7 To Head To China In Late 2011

It appears that China won’t be getting Windows Phone 7 in the very near future, at least according to NetworkWorld. The OS isn’t going to head to those lands until the second half of 2011 said Yang Tianyang, Microsoft’s communications sector director for the Greater China region in a speech on Monday. The Chinese smartphone market is estimated to clock in at some 88.5 million users, making it a valuable target for any company. The rapidly aging Windows Mobile platform is surprisingly still the second largest smartphone OS in the country with 12.6 million phones, but that still trails remarkably behind Nokia’s 54 million on Symbian OS.

Both Apple and Android are making concerted pushes into the Chinese arena.
