Much to the chagrin of anyone covering Windows Phone 7, it appears Microsoft is in no hurry to implement screenshots on the platform. Apparently the lack of this rather useful feature isn’t a big deal to Microsoft, and there isn’t a large enough cry from the general populace to bump it higher on their list of fish to fry.
Aaron Woodman, director of Microsoft’s mobile communications business, thinks it’s a tool mostly used by journalists, and he’s pretty much right. Developers grab shots from the emulators, and many casual users have no use for the feature. But for those of us trying to cover a platform, write about apps, and show off what’s going on on our phones? It’s a wonderful utility, and I’m sad that we won’t be seeing it soon.
