The official Windows Phone Blog provides us with the first hands-on look at the new Samsung ATIV S announced today at IFA in Berlin. The 8.7mm thin device features brushed aluminum, a major departure from the look we’ve come to expect from Samsung devices. Even today’s Android phone announcements all include a heavy dose of plastic.
The device is a massive 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display that utilizes Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2.
Other specs include:
- 1.5Ghz dual-core processor
- 16GB or 32GB storage capacities
- 1GB RAM
- 8 megapixel rear, 1.9 megapixel front cameras
- microSD storage support
- 2300 mAh battery
Ben Rudolph offers his thoughts on the device.
Despite having a 4.8” display, which makes the ATIV S one of the bigger phones on the market, it doesn’t feel that big.
The ATIV S is flat-out beautiful, and it has the guts to match.
