Chris Walshie, one of the brains behind the ChevronWP7 jailbreak, has been tweeting up a storm about the planned update for Windows Phone 7. While he won’t reveal his source, he’s saying that the update should land in January, and has been saying things like:
MS took 3 months to do what Apple did in 3 years.
Let’s just say, they could have called it Windows Phone 8
If his sources are correct, when the new update lands early next year, we’ll be in for a hell of a ride. Walshie says he’ll try and post up more details in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled.

I like it!
I’m really rooting for Microsoft here, and hope WP7 does well in the long run.
I’m a software developer for a company that develops for iPhone, Android, and WP7 and they all have their strengths… but the dev environment in WP7 is far superior, and the interface is very cool. In the least, I’m hoping the additional competition forces Apple and Google to heavily improve in certain areas.
As a USER of the phone, I definately think a lot of the bad press has been unfounded – it’s a great phone, and I love the interface.
This sounds fantastic to me. But the devil is in the details so I’ll keep my excitement in check till the announcement. I still have great appreciation for WP7.
Very cool! I’m hoping there will be a control that will allow you to control the contrast, brightness, color saturation, gamma etc of the phone screen. That would be very cool.
