We remind those of you that are still hanging on to the Windows Mobile OS that the marketplace service will permanently shut down on May 17, 2012. Initially, the service was set for disconnection on May 9th, but that date was since pushed back to May 17th, this Thursday. Users who intend to stay on Windows Mobile OS for whatever reason should make sure all applications are updated before the shut down date. Once the service is shut down no applications will be available for download, update, etc.
If the user device on Windows Mobile OS is hard reset or wiped after the shut down date, at which point the marketplace service will be gone, there will be absolutely no way to retrieve previous applications. Even if the content is stored on a connected storage device, it will also be wiped.
