NoDo has started rolling out to a lucky few, but many are still waiting on their carrier (*coughAT&Tcough*) to push out the update. In the wake of these delays, a new workaround to force the update has popped up, which involves tweaking the phone to make it think it’s Hungarian. As always, your mileage may vary. It originally popped up here, but has been expanded here. The current instructions are:
1. Download USAIP.pbk from here, then open it and connect to EUROIP PPTP Hungary
with
USERNAME: demo
PASSWORD: demo
(This connection is automatically closed after 7 minutes!)and connect your phone to the PC
(If “Network Connections” doesn’t open, apply the registry entry from here and reboot your PC)
2. Disable WLAN (Wifi) in your phone, but be shure to have FLIGHT MODE off and that in “Settings” > “Phone update” both checkboxes are checked3. Start Zune and keep it running all the time
4. Switch to cellular settings on the phone
5. Manually search for an update within Zune (“Settings” > “Phone” > “Update”)
Important step 6.:
After a few seconds (about 10-15 seconds for me) disable data transfer on the already opened settings tab on your phone–> The update shows up!
(You can now terminate the connection and download the update using your “normal” internet connection)If it doesn’t work (cognizable by the fact that you get a time out error) retry steps 5 and 6 and vary the time until you manually disable data transfer! (step 6)
Users report this tutorial works with WIFI! So if you aren’t successful try to use your phone’s WIFI connection instead of your cellular data connection (be sure to set cellular data off this time).
(Thanks goes to vi3txlifv, mikmik111 and kapanak)
A trick to get the right timing (thanks Hardmen):
Get a stopwatch and stop the time until you get the Zune update time out. Subtract 0.5 to 1 seconds and that’s the time you have to shut off the data connection.
Chris Walsh has a related tweak, but it involves registry hacking.
As always, you screw up your phone, it’s your own damned fault.

got it installed on my Focus. Thanks for the heads up. For Samsung Focus owners it’s VERY important to change the registry string.
im not sure how to use that first program. It keeps saying some syntax error when i try to run it.
Even after updating the registry and rebooting i still cant get that pbk file to run correctly. is there currently another work around?
Also worked for me. Have a LG on KPN network the netherlands. Indeed make sure you first connect to EUROIP PPTP Hungary and then connect your phone and have zune started. Did that wrong the first time. Many thanks to who found this out !
