According to a DigiTimes report, Motorola is expected to restart relationships with Taiwanese smartphone makers with handset shipments to begin as early as Q2 of 2008. The Moto Q family of smartphones will continue to be developed and manufactured by Motorola’s internal research team.
According to Taiwanese handset makers, Motorola is expected to restart cooperation over smartphones. Motorola is planning to outsource Windows Mobile platform 3.5G handsets to Taiwan makers, aiming to reduce the retail price of their handsets. The OEM partners will cover gaps in their handset line. The makers contacted include Compal Communication, Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS) and Arima Communications.
