Microsoft has decided to go all out for the Windows Phone 7 launch, and will be giving WP7 phones to all of their employees. That’s around 92,000 people worldwide, each of whom will get the device when it launches in their country — about 53,000 are in America, and will receive it when the system launches, these holidays.
Right now, it’s widely assumed that these devices will be given out for free, however the Seattle PI points out:
Microsoft is giving no information on whether it is giving the phones away for free. Microsoft does have a reimbursement program for employees who use their personal phones for work — you see many iPhones on campus.
That’s one way to ensure a good starting user base.
