Microsoft has released the final version of the developer tools for WP7, and in it contain what’s okay and what isn’t for app makers. Following closely in Apple’s footsteps, nudity’s a no-no, but puerile humor is just fine.
To get more specific, Microsoft has banned pornography, sex, nudity or adult content. No nipples, genitalia, pubic hair, “images that are sexually suggestive or provocative”, “content that a reasonable person would consider to be adult or borderline adult content” or “content that generally falls under the category of pornography.” Also not okay is gratuitous or realistic violence, “decapitation, impaling, blood splatter, blood spurting, blood pooling or guns and weapons pointed toward the user or audience.”
I guess my sexy zombie shooter game won’t get approved then, huh?
It’s sad, no? If someone wants porn let em get porn. They paid for the phone, they paid for the apps. Who is Microsoft (or Apple for that matter) to belittle me?
And no it’s not the porn I’m worked up about, it’s the fact we’re basically being robbed from choice. What if it were to concern bomb making instructions? Is that illegal? Or how about a medical app which does show nudity? Since when do we trust corporations to choose for us? We already have a government that fails at that job.
