Yahoo Messenger question from a newbie

Is there a program or a way that when somebody sends me a message in Yahoo Messenger that a notification will either show up on my screen or a sound will play? My company doesn't use yahoo but I have friends that do and we use it during the day. It's frustrating to keep hitting refresh all the time. Thanks in advance for any help, and thanks to the powers that be for this website!

yahoo doesnt have a IM program for the Q

there are only IM programs that carry all the IM Clients (Yahoo/AOL/MSN, Etc.)

read the IM Thread to see which you want to try...there are quite a few listed there

some that might not be there are
    MunduIM
    Palringo
    Slick

but all of those are listed in through out the forum here

I think the original poster was saying he was using the mobile web version of yahoo messenger. I agree, hitting refresh all the time is painful.

I usu Octro Talk. You need a GTalk account to use it, but it also connects to Yahoo Messenger.
