I'm thinking about getting an unlocked Windows Phone 7 and using prepaid wireless with it.
    1) Is it possible to get a data plan without a contract (e.g. Verizon?)
    2) Is there a way to get GPS navigation on a Windows Phone 7 with prepaid wireless from T-Mobile? (I don't mind buying the map data.)
    3) In a nutshell, what is the difference between a data plan and WiFi?
(Aside from the fact that you have to pay for a data plan.)

Thank you very much in advance!

Currently there are no WP7 on the Verizon network, so that is out of the question.

You can get it off contract but not sure if T-Mo will allow pre-paid, that is something you would have to ask.

Data Plan requires a carrier WiFi requires a hotspot

Thank you very much for your reply, Scott.
    That was helpful.

T-Mobile allows my Nokia 5800 to be prepaid.
So maybe they'll allow Windows Phone 7 also.

Its possible, I dont really know much about T-Mo and their practices with pre-paid phones. New phones may not be allowed to be on that program just yet.

A friend of mind ordered a Dell Venue Pro paid for full price and got prepaid plan for text, voice and data.
Check out Tmob web or call them if you like to switch to Tmob
