I am impatient.......
So either, this was a really mean joke...or she just didn't know what she was talking about...or I suck and can't find it:
Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be glad to assist you about the
Mobile 6.1 update.
Sprint has launched the Mobile 6.1 update effective April 30, 2008. I
noticed that the Motorola Q9c handset is activated on your account.
Therefore, you can update the handset to Windows mobile 6.1.
For more details, please follow the steps given below:
- Click on www.sprint.com
- Click on the support tab
- Click on view all support
- type the "Mobile 6.1" under the search tab.
The next page will display all the information about the Mobile 6.1.
Thank you again for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business.
I'm incredibly doubtful it is out yet. When Sprint released the new Mogul ROM with Rev A, GPS and other new goodies, there was a big announcement on BAW and all the major mobile blogs carried the news. I'm waiting for that.
Patience, young grasshopper.
She probably meant this.
Yeah, I saw that. Just tugging on my heartstrings. On a lighter note, I think its pretty sweet that when you search for "windows mobile 6.1 sprint" this thread shows up as the third link :-P
sent in the email about wm 6.1 and got this reply
Dear Dr., Mr., Mrs., Ms. ,
Thank you for contacting Sprint. I understand the concern about the handset feature.
Currently, we are working to launch the Windows Mobile 6.1.
Although, no official release date has been declared for the said premium service. However, as soon as these songs are launched, we will inform our customers with high profile promotions.
I understand that there are lot of customers waiting for the release and I can assure you that our technical department is working hard to make it available soon. I appreciate your patience and understanding in this regard.

we just have to sit tight at this point. I am looking forward to August 31st. But it can take it's time getting here, I tend to like the summer
does that mean that the ones shipping now will come with 6.1 already on them?
no it doesnt
Any news on this?
Been some months now, is there any hope for getting 6.1 for the Q? Thanks.
the original Q will never get the update officially maybe sometime down the line someone will make it work but dont hold your breath
the Q9's (except the Q9m) can officially update to 6.1 and the Q9m can update unofficially to the pre-released 6.1 rom that was for the verizon Q9c
I am typing this from my last Motorola and also my last WM phone, then. This is ridiculous. Hopefully it will keep working until the first sprint Android phone comes out.
IMO you cant really expect them to release an update for an old phone..can ya?
Thats like asking Windows 2000 to be updated to Vista..it'd be way to much work for something that wouldnt run it well at all.
Pretty much every phone company is gonna do the same thing..im sure if ya bought a Q9c w/ WM 6.1 right now with any carrier..and they released WM 7 in 2010 that you wouldnt get an upgrade.
Just my $0.2
good luck waiting for the android
i hear its out on t-mobile
It is a hadware and software issue. it is stupid to think that just because you bought an OS for your computer that you would be automatically updated to the next one. You would purchase the next system.
We do not have that option with the phones. Everything I read says that the different phone versions are pretty much the same save for the case and screens. Sprint/motorola are just holding out to make newer phones even more attractive. Eff that.
Android phones will likely be out on both Sprint and Tmo by 2009. All the internet chatter says both Sprint and Tmo will be the first, with HTC being the likely hardware manufacturer. I cant wait.
the grass always appears to be greener on the other side
but to each there own
it'll probably be a while before android reaches it's potential anyway.
It all depends on the processor - If it has been changed in a phone series, probably no upgrade. Heck, a phone model is practicably obsolete a month after it hits the streets. HA !!!
