And to the best of everyone's knowledge or best guess- is this the same dive that Brent372 has had a few complaints about? Again, if you had to guess...

Well for me its worth the upgrade just because it looks a lot nicer, i have set up a pop account with it and it works fine so I assume the IMAP will work. three main reasons to take the plunge are it looks a whole lot nicer, threaded text messaging built into the operating system, and it really just looks a whole lot nicer. Its running smoothly so far and its supposed to be a final release so you might as well upgrade now because your probably going to upgrade sometime soon anyways ha.

I haven't encountered any of the problems he came across.

Hi, I got it to flash mode, thanks for the help. Now I'm having problems getting the computer to recognize the Q in flash mode and the computer is looking for drivers for the new device. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Scott

Disconect your Q and download and instal this if you have a 32 bit os http://motomoddinguk.info/downloads.php?do=file&id=86 or this if you have a 64 bit os http://motomoddinguk.info/downloads.php?do=file&id=87. Then plug it back in and try running the RSD rom installer again.

He was responding to someone asking if this ROM would work for an Alltel Q9c.

Same here... all 6 of the 4.1s on 4shared.com that I could find had viruses. I found 4.2 on 4shared.com and it appears to be clean. Go to 4shared.com and search for RSD Lite 4.2 -- it should be an .msi file.

So whats the overall view of this update. It seems that everybody that has tried to update it, got it working sucessfully. Got Dashwire updating my phone, all e-mail and contacts are on Exchange, so I'm ready to roll. Since this will be my first update EVER to my phone without using the MOT update program, is there any sugestions? I have read the instructions for the Q9h, and know you need to press the A(*) and the enter key to get it in boot mode, even have the beer ready to keep me away. And about how long does this update take? 10-15 min?

    Thanks!
    Eric

    Sorry to be novice, but...

if I am going to do this, I would be very appreciative is someone would show me which RSD Lite does not have a virus (give me a link telling me which to version to click) and then I assume I just need to go to the website originally posted where the new ROM is. I'm not great at this crap. Also, I don't mind reinstalling my apps, but if I do the pim.vol file copy, I should be ok with my contacts & calendar, right?

hey bloody novice :} (couldn't resist)

    Scott has a clean RSD Lite v 4.2 at http://www.scottschrob.com/q/wm6.1/RSD Lite 4.2.rar

and yes, copying the pim.vol should save your contacts and calendar entries.

Wish I had that link earlier today. I got mine from soft4gsm, and had to 'buy' credits to download it. It was about $6-7 for 5 programs....
