Is it good or bad if i smell something "Hot" and a cloud of smoke comes from the phone????
that depends :}
I guess this is just for Verizon right? Can't be used on an Alltel?
Time of truth....
It says Windows 6.1 and has booted...
I have made and received a call!!!!
I know this might be premature, but does this one have the same bugs Brent372 has discussed. If someone can discuss stability & performance- that'd be great.
As of right now I am having difficulties getting to the internet... that is my first problem I have encountered and have not moved on from there yet.
I did do a RESTORE though, so I am going to start over with a fresh install of this ROM and keep people up to date.
*** EDIT *** Internet works, had something to do with the Restore from Sprite I did.

Cusious as to where it was originally downloaded from? Is this a cooked ROM?

I was a little cautious too, but since SOMEONE `^` wouldn't give us a clean one.... JUST KIDDING
I would assume its cooked, but I honestly wouldn't know how to tell if it were. Any help here would be great.
It's not a cooked ROM. Downloaded it straight from the source...
I hope we don't go over the same stuff that some other guys did when mexiken and I provided the q global wm6.1 update.
So, for someone like me...
Who isn't a big risk taker when it comes to my technology (I use it critically for running my business)- would you say it's "legit enough" for someone like me to use, or will this version be stark in contrast to what VZW will put out- if and when, that happens? I'm just not wanting to brick my crap, and then be f-ed for business purposes.
So this is just for Verizon right? Just put me out of my misery please! :foot:
i believe he means the source IS verizon
so if they release it...it will be the same as this or have only tiny changes
Apparently I'm not great at reading between the lines, but you are.
There's no question about the legitimacy of the file. Once they make an easier update (same thing they did with q global btw) it will be released for everyone on motorola's website. This is just a sneak peak. Not a beta version or anything. This is the official release. Once Motorola Software Updater is run, it will get download the exact same file to your PC and flash your phone automatically.
This can be called the "advanced" or "manual" version of motorola software update. Flashing your phone via rsd lite with an upgrade file.
Thanks for the clarification- now that you've cleared that up... how the f- do I crank this thing on my phone? Should I just search for how to flash your phone using RSD lite?
It's verizon only. Alltel has had an update since 7/29/08.
If your alltel q9c is black download this https://rsddownload.motorola.com/download/Alltel_P3_NN_C_02.27.01I_UPGRADE_FILE_01.sbf.gz
If it's lime green, download this https://rsddownload.motorola.com/download/Alltel_G_N_C_02.05.02I_UPGRADE_FILE_01.sbf.gz
Those are the latest files for alltel. Hope it helps.
Use winrar, or whatever to unpack the gz file. You should be left with a file that has an sbf extension. Power up your phone, open RSD lite and connect your phone to your PC. RSD lite should show some info after installing the drivers. From there, just click on start, have a beer and jump for joy when it's done.
My request to people who have completed the flash to VZW 6.1: Please post any instability, bugs, or issues. That will determine if I'm going to jump on the bleeding edge of this update.
downloading as we speak.
Also, if people can report on the major differences between 6.0 and 6.1, that would be helpful. Its been discussed before, but maybe we should revisit the reasons to upgrade, for those of us Verizoners who avoided the earlier 6.1 talk.
like say if the GPS is still locked:tounge:
(im sure it is still)
