Verizon's Data Plans soon to be mandatory

I don't know if anyone has posted about this, and if so I apologize for the double post, but I was talking with a Verizon rep the other day at work about Verizon's new policy involving data packages:

Pretty much the data package plan only affects NON-blackberry smartphones. Verizon has always required data packages for all blackberry devices, so this new policy affects pretty much any other smartphone on verizon's network.

Apparently after November, you will no longer be able to use "Pay as you go" data plans, or even impose a data block on your handset. Verizon will require you to purchase a data plan to activate a smartphone on their network. The rep I talked to confirmed this.
