I'm a business student! Besides I have Sprint. And I already gave Skittle my ROM file.
a nice little article from WMExperts.com
its not answer but atleast action is being attempted
im thinking maybe we should do something like this
probably wont get it done but hey enough of these might really make them think
Interesting article. It's a little sad that phone companies have to go to such means as to cripple their own phones to make more money.
wmexperts.com just got a whole lot of respect in my book.
I recently helped a friend connect his GPS. Discovered that he had to reset the port to COM 1 using gpscom.exe.
you can also set the com port in the individual GPS programs
amen to that.
I would say instead of crippling their phones, companies should use that money to better their own products enough that people will be willing to purchase the service or product rather than use a cheaper or free alternative. The hardware is there--instead of disabling it, why not further it?
I'm wanting to get some kind of navigation system for my phone. I am using the at&t navigator for free for the 30 days, but don't like the idea of paying an extra $10 a month. I've checked out the garmin mobil xt and it looks pretty good for a one time fee of $100. Do you know of any less expensive or better options? Advice appreciated.
I thought at&t worked right out of the box? :-/
It does work but you have to pay $10 a month.
Even with google maps and WLS? Or is it locked like vzw?
I'm not familiar with Google maps or WLS. Do these work similar to the garmin?
I think so but since I am vzw which is locked out to ANYTHING but their pay service (which is the hack people are trying to do in this thread) I couldn't tell you with certainty maybe you should try an at&t thread you will def get more accurate info. c
I looked into Garmin a little while back and they had a software/GPS receiver hardware package for about $150. My understanding is that you can't use a non-Garmin GPS receiver with their software unless you install using a "hack."
Using a GPS receiver with Google Maps gives you a fairly good work-around. I got my GPS receiver for about $70 a month ago but my friend tells me that they go for about $80-$90 these days. Google Maps is free.
moving forward can we keep this thread with the title? Verizon Q9c GPS
if you have another carrier and are curious about software for your device try to find a thread on that particular software or start a new thread
Verizon GPS is locked and since other carriers are unlocked it can get kind of confusing for someone new to see these last few posts discussing otherwise
How about in the crackberry forums they just posted that the gps is unlocked for several BB models. Here is the link if you're interested http://forums.crackberry.com/f40/verizon-gps-unlocked-108432/
Just read through all the pages, debating just buying a gps bluetooth but would really like to see this work. Here to hoping.
