Verizon Pitching Extended Battery Promo Through SMS

I was sitting at my desk and heard the familar sound of an incoming SMS message on my Q. When I saw it was from Verizon, I thought it was a bill reminder. Instead, they were pitching an offer for the extended battery. $24.99 at your local VZW Store. Offer is good through Nov 12. I just found it curious they were using SMS to promote the extended battery.

I agree. Clearly, they have done everything they can to get owners using the extended battery. $20 is what got me. I would have bought a standard battery for that price.

It was a reminder of how cellphones/smartphones are one of the few technologies where we are not constantly bombarded with ads. I don't mind a monthly promotion, otherwise I'll opt out.

Nice find on the Seido's. They are monsterous. That'll be the one to try. Amazing that the phone is $99 and a battery is $60 :( Let me stoop'th over.

VZW has been using SMS to push cell phone or plan upgrades for a few years now. Of course, the last time I upgraded was back in 2001 when I bought a Kyocera PalmOS phone. :tounge:

The account rep that I dealt with on Friday (when I bought my Q) upsold me to the extended battery right off the bat (instead of the leather holster).

Does anyone have physical measurements on the 2100 or 3200 mAh batteries? Looking at the 2 batteries that I have:

    Standard battery: 1130 mAh
    53mm x 35mm x 5mm

    Extended battery: 1640 mAh
    53mm x 35mm x 9mm

I say be kind 'bout it and you will amazed...

I went in last wed (after the 13th) and asked for the discounted price and they said "OK"... I can do that... and I am glad I did... it made the world of difference between running out of "power" mid day or making it till evening...
