You do have it set to GMT-6 Cental US...
    NOT GMT-6 Central America.... right?

So then I am not imagining things. There is a real issue with the time and whatnot. At least I feel a little better knowing that its just not me.

Hahaha...sorry. I went through the registry and couldn't really find anything.

I work in IT at an investment bank so I know, sooner or later, the issue is gonna pop up with our users. They never go to the carrier, they always come to us with their issues. I'd look pretty stupid if I can't get my own to work correctly :-X

And yes, it was set to Central, not Central America...

I wonder if it pulls the time from the tower? How close are you to the border of the Eastern Time Zone?

I live in the NW burbs of IL and work in Chicago. I would assume far enough for it to pick up a tower here in IL somewhere.

    OK, how about this?

START --> SETTINGS --> PHONE SETTINGS --> CLOCK & TIME ZONE

Set both to AUTOMATIC and reboot....
After Reboot, go to START --> SETTINGS --> CLOCK & ALARM --> DATE and TIME

Make sure the time is correct, but don't change anything else....

Tried that as well. I tried all of the different configurations, auto auto, auto manual, manual manual. Still same results.

Just to weigh in here, I set my Q9c to auto update time this morning from DC where it correctly showed Eastern time. Just landed in AZ - powered up my phone and time is now correctly set to local AZ time. Seems that the auto update feature is functioning correctly on my VZW Q9c

Its not that the time isn't updating... its that text messages aren't showing the correct time...

Same here. I got my Q9c the Saturday after it was released. (Also in Peoria, IL area!)

I had a friend who has issues with the time and he was told to reprogram his phone using the *228 send command.

I would try setting the phone to the correct time zone and automatically set the time using the system time then reprogram the phone.

I've tried that as well. The time stamp is still incorrect.

    This been fixed yet?

So I just got my Q9C on Friday (had the original Q for 2 years before that) and I have the same problem. It is only the text messages that the time stamp is wrong. As a side note, I got mine in Southern Illinois, so is it phones from this area or are there folks without this problem. From what my google search tells me though, it's not just the Qs that are the problem, iPod and Blackberry do as well.

When I called Verizon, he gave me this fix ##073887* send
    Code 000000
    User Activation
    NAM1
    MIN
    PHONE NUMBER

    MDN
    PHONE NUMBER

    CDMASYSID
    4192
    OK
    OK
    DEVICE RESETS
Manually programming phone to put back on right time zone

But unfortunately, all the information was already entered like that.

I also found a hack (HKLM/SOFTWARE/OEM/Phone settings- add DWord value"TrustTimeZoneField" set value=0) but I can't find a setting for the key it's naming.

So, anyone had luck fixing this?

    Text Time Stamp

My wife has a new Q9c and her received text message time stamp is not correct. We both had the standard Q with WM5 which works just fine, so this sounds like a software bug. Anybody have an update or solution to this annoying problem.

Yes I did thanks. I spent and hour on the phone with Verizon today and tried all they suggested without success.
