"The Storage Card Cannot be Found"

I just received a new Q9c and ordered the 8GB SD card available thru Verizon Wireless (my company pays for everything, so I figured, why not get the 8GB.)

The little SD icon shows up on my home screen, but when I try to format the card, it says the Storage Card cannot be found.

    What's the deal?

    Thanks!

So now that I have my storage card - is there a way (and is it advisable) - to run my entire smart phone off the storage card?

Is it better to run the OS off the internal memory and everything else on the flash card? I don't plan on ever removing it - so I don't think that's an issue.

    Thoughts?

How about Outlook data? My mailbox is about 300 meg - is there a way to use the storage card for caching/synchronizing it?

The SD cards are organized in multiple ways and with different standards.
The phone must have the proper means to read the memory.
My Q8 can only handle 2GB. The bigger sizes 4GB and above, use HC protocol, thus can not be recognized by it.

It seems to be the same for the Q9.

most Q9's can run above 2GB by default. All others need SDHC.cab file to run the larger cards.

It actually recognized it as 8GB - however when I installed the above stated app - it made the card think it was only 4GB. :)

that app is mainly for us memory challanged Q1 owners.

hopefully after you uninstall that app your card didn't loose any data

Yeah, after uninstalling, we're back at 8GB - with no data loss.
