Thanks for that link..I was looking everywhere!
well looky there
learned something new:laugh2:
haha yeah, I haven't been able to do it yet..I cant find application data\profiles.
ha yea doesnt exist!
there is one in windows
there werent any files that resemble what was listed in the new profile thread
But you don't have to. You CAN edit one of the existing profiles to be absolutely silent for everything but text messages. It's really simple. Go back to editing a profile.
Name: whatever you want
Ring Type: Silent
Ring Volume: Off
Reminder Type: Silent
Reminder Volume: Off
Notification Type: Play Sound
Notification Volume: however quietly you can set the mosquito tone so you can hear it but the fewest other people can.
System Volume: Off
In your sound settings, make sure your SMS tone is set to mosquito and voila. You won't be told about anything but texts and emails and no one but your classmates will know. If you want to get rid of the notification for emails and ONLY hear about texts, you will have to go into the registry, but that's a fairly simple hack.
But I'll repeat the warning that lots of adults can hear the mosquito tone. I'm 27 and that particular frequency is so piercing to me it makes my heart race. My brother - 34 - has the same reaction. I experimented on a few people of various ages, and nearly everyone below 40 could hear it at least somewhat. One friend, when she came over, asked if my fridge always made that noise. So keep an eye on your teachers. If they start looking at the light fixtures every time you get a text, you might be in trouble.
Thank you SOOOO much.
I have the 19 mHz one that i can barely hear so i hope it works. ill test it out.
Sure your teacher won't hear, but if I was your classmate and I kept hearing your high-pitched sounds during class, I'd punch you in the face and steal your lunch money.
not if you text in the "slacking off" class where half the people are texting.
and i didnt know that texts fell under the "Notification" category
There's that too. If the bullies in your class start looking at the lights, you might be in REAL trouble. :tounge:
Hey i am having the same exact problem...the vibrate for texts is way!!! to long. and then there isnt an option for everything to be silent except the text notification. grr..im soo getting caught in grammar class! lol
That ring tone isn't silent to ALL teachers. I can here that just fine when one of my students have the stupid thing.
there is an app on my page, think it is called turnthedamphoneoff.cab
you are in school to learn.
I take it you are a teacher. Take all the phones away. I love waisting tax money like this.
Yes, I am a teacher and the darn phones drive me nuts. Our school adopted a 3 strikes and you lose your phone for the year rule. Went into effect last year.
A couple of years ago I bought a thing that looks like a ink pen but it has a light on the end. The light lights up if a phone is in use within about 50 feet. Works great in my class.
The stupid cricket/mosquito ring tone is lame. It really drives me nuts.
When I was in high school my history teacher would take any ringing phones from students and answer them in Finnish.
Separate names with a comma.
