What bothers me the most. Im 48 years old. My kids friends come over and call me by my first name. Makes my skin crawl.

That is why this is an important topic, lots of people really do not realize that there are alot of folks that work their tails of for "basic" survival and still cant afford to eat properly.

Well i think it is rude to presume, I call people by their sir names unless directed otherwise, unless they have a name tag or something that says otherwise lol truly I have been called worse than my first name, but not by my kids friends :)

    Or how you behave :)
I wouldnt trade this age for another :)

afterall, the new thing is sending naked pictures to each other with picture phones. not to mention video.....

When I was young, 24 now, we had 35mm cameras still....up until we got a lil older unless you were loaded, but they wouldn't let their 12 year old carry their 4000 camera anyway

When I grew up, all my parents' friends and our neighbors were called by their first name (their request), except my immediate nest-door neighbors. They were Mr. and Mrs. So and So (even though they were the same age as my parents - late 20's early 30's).

When they came to my dad's funeral a few years back, (I was almost forty at the time), they were still Mr. and Mrs. So and So!!

Only one of my daughters friends call me Mrs. XXXX, but I think that is because his dad is a teacher in the district, so he hears everyone call his dad "Mr. H". It's strange for my daughter to see him in school and say "Hi, Mr. H" but later at home, say "Hi, Jim..."

I prefer a first name basis, because I'm grasping at straws trying to hold onto my youth!

It is a sign of respect. These days there isn't much of that going on.

I agree with you there, dafox. Most of the kids friends start out with Mrs. XXXX (since they know my last name...) but I always tell them to
"Please, call me Sherri." As long as they are respectful, I don't care what they call me...

I remember I was so excited to get a Polaroid Camera for my B-Day when I was younger. Unfortunatly, they were just about to come out with the better models when I got it. Does anyone remember that show "Salute Your Shorts?" That was my favorite show of all time! Nickelodeon was the only channel that existed to me, that and The Cartoon Network.
