Saga is not a global phone? (costa rica)

I thought it was? I was just told by VZW service that "it is not a global phone like a Blackberry" and that I must rent a phone to travel to Costa Rica.

    Anyone know better here?

The Saga is a global CDMA and GSM phone which is to say if VZW/Vodaphone has a contract with the local carrier, it will work where that carrier has service.

Make sure you enable the Global service with VZW and then *228. Costa Rica is a GSM country so you'd switch to GSM mode. Either the free option at $2.89/min or the value plan $4.99/mo and $2.29/min. Your number stays the same.

    Um, skype is your friend.

Quick check on Verizon's site shows that the CSR lady was the moron. It was the same one who had trouble with the definition of backdate.
