Tried that... still not working..
Oh well... guess I'll stick with what I've got.
what did you try...what was the sender info gmail sent ya? gmail is the easiest of all the accounts i've set up. the sms is always from the same sender and the body always starts off the same...with a "(" in it!
To set up push on gmail, you have to follow the info on gmail page. you need to forward your email to your phones addy like
or what ever your carrier is. that text triggers PE to push mail.
sounds like karel got that far but was putting that addy into PE....and not the sender info or sms body.
I just put the @ sign in there.
i never went that route (too vague)...would have all my emails polling when any sms had a @ in it! plus i was getting sms's intercepted that are never recovered...
I did put the address into the sender's area...
I have to put that same addy into the sms body field?
i just put myname+caf in the sender area and a ( in the body as that is the first character...not sure if that help. then of course have pe monitor incoming and start it. all those forwarded texts you were getting should now stop..
SMS Body area contains?
I realize I can leave the 'SMS sender area' blank except for the @ symbol, but what does a Sprint/GMail user put in the 'SMS body area'?
I am receiving only emails sent, not recieved.
whats in the body of the sms? should always have a common if you have it set up on gmails fwrd to sms side.
that is what I am trying to ask you. if I have a gmail account, what goes into PushEffects SMS body setting?
I get copies of my own messages sent back to me in addition to the recipients reply. frustrating.
my gmail is forwarded as an sms.
"troythetreefrog+caf_=" in the sender field and
"(" in the body field
or maybe visa versa...can't remember! I know it seemed backwards when i got it to work. I flashed my phone yesterday and haven't gotten to putting PE back on yet.
thanks. can you give me the email address you are using, or an example to ensure that i'm formatting my email address properly?
also wondering how you found out what to put in these fields.
in gmail's settings (on the pc) under "forwarding and pop/imap" i have selected forward a copy of incoming mail to email@example.com (verizon!) and to keep a copy in gmail's inbox. i use imap.
when i get the text message its from troythetreefrog+caf (plus alot more, including my phone number)...i would assume this the sender info! it should always be from this sender..being me..in your case..you!
the body in the sms has: (subject) actual email verbage....up to 160 characters! that is why i only put the "(" in there. the only common as the subject will always be different as well as the email.
i just played around with it adding enough info so PE would grab it. so just turn off PE..send a couple test emails..use the commons for sender and body..turn on PE..hope that you dont get the sms and your gmail starts to download!
thanks, my man.
are there advantages of IMAP over using the standard pop server?
imap allows personal folder(s) sync!
but gmail doesn't have personal folders, they have tags and filters instead, right?
ya...can sync starred, sent from pc, spam, etc... i think labels too..dunno. i'm more a hotmail guy!
