    Opera Mini 4.2 Default Browser

I've tried the various solutions on xda-developers, including JZ SmartMort, to set Opera Mini as the default browser with limited success. I read about superdave's program posted on ppcgeeks.com here:

    http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=224885&postcount=1

but didn't mess with it since it was designed for ppc devices with jbed.exe in the windows directory. Finally decided to give it a try after copying jbed.exe to the windows directory (as well as its .mui file) & it worked!
So I incorporated superdave's program into into my OM 4.2 cab installer & made a separate reg file with his program's reg edits as well as the necessary reg edits for jbed.exe's new location.
(I did this because I kept getting errors when trying to build the .cab with reg edits including dirids in QuickCab & CeRegEditor, & haven't learned how to build .cab files manually.)
The minor drawback, other than not having one simple installer, is that you need a reg editor that supports importing .reg files. I ended up using SKTools Standard & it worked great.

    *EDIT*
I updated the downloads so the jbed doesn't have to be downloaded along with the other files. Also changed a minor detail in the .cab file to get rid of the "exit opera now?" prompt when restarting opera after not using the 'exit' menu option:

    OM4.2_DefBrowser_pt.1.cab

    OM4.2_DefBrowser_pt.2.reg

These files were created by and for this jbed:

    EsmertecJbed20080222.3.1.SP.cab

    NOTES:
Good chance it will work with other jbeds, but not jbed rose, as it's folder name is different than others. Am thinking of doing a similar thing with jbed rose and opera mini 5 beta.

For these files to work, the jbed needs to be installed to the storage card.

This fix was designed for the Nap, as one of the reg edits overwrites the IE QuickLaunch button to Opera Mini, but other than that should work fine on any Q.

All credit goes to superdave, I just put the pieces together...

    THANK YOU SUPERDAVE!!!

well i tried using superdave's app with Opera Mini 5 beta on JBedRose & it didn't work; when you click on a link it goes to the enter url page and loops continually. So I did the next best thing, use JBedRose with Opera Mini 4.2 as default browser and add Opera Mini 5 beta to it:

This will only work with JBedRose installed to the tf card!
