    Nap Dead

Wondering if anyone has any advice for me, I was using the phone the other day when it froze up.
I rebooted it and it came up to the windows mobile screen, then the top half of that screen dissapears but the bottom half is still there, and it doesnt go any further!

I have tried taking the battery out and keeping it out, but it never fully boots :(
Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Only suggestion I'd have to try would be to do a Master Reset to it to start with. To do so hold down the * and E key then press the power on button. This will do a master reset. If all goes well it should put it back to square one and fire up. You'd then have to obviously reset everything and install all your programs but at this point it may be the only option besides try to reflash it.

try holding the center button down on the d-pad while turn the device on, that will do a hard reset if I'm not mistaken. Only other option would be to try hooking it up to your comp and reflashing it.

I would suggest getting RSD Lite 4.2, setting it up, and using the two step 01.18/01.31 flash file(s).

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried to flash it but my computer wont even recognize its on the other end of the cord. This thing is toast.

I called Motorola directly and tried to get an RMA repair ticket open with them but these ESN's are not even in their database!
I was running out of options so I pulled my old Q9m out of the draw, scraped the ESN sticker off the back and glued it to the NAP.
Called Motorola back and got a ticket made out for those numbers, of course it is out of warranty so it will cost me $75 but I figure its worth a shot.

This doesn't seem like a phone worthy of government issue to me...

on the contrary, have you seen how our government "works" lol

Keep in mind these were never ment to be released into the wild. Most were some form of production prototype. Best of luck on the repair.

yea best of luck to ya on that. I'll be surprise if they can or will even fix it tho do to the fact it was never released.

If you haven't sent it off trying holding down the * and # key at the same time and then press and hold the power on key. this will force the phone to flash mode which in turn loads different drivers so hopefully you could get if flashed.

Yeah, I doubt you will be able to get Moto to fix a phone that never got all the way to a full public release, especially with a Q9m ESN sticker glued into place. At best, you might get a Q9m.

    good luck.

It was sent back the same day they received it lol, "Regrettably, we are returning your unit to you un-repaired because we do not repair this product at this facility."

Thanks for the tip, that did work. I am going to see if I can flash it.
