your contacts and calander stuff is located in a file called pim.vol located on the root of device. It must remain in that location or Q will not function correctly.

you can make a copy of the file for safe keeping, but it is a small file and won't free up much space if you looking to do that.

So if I copy that pim file to my memory card, I can then hard reset my phone, copy it back and still have all my contacts?

Correct. When you go to copy it back use total commander or resco. Using the default file manager for this often causes freezing/lockups

I dont understand why people go through all of that trouble to backup your cal and contacts.

We run windows mobile boys and girls... use ActiveSync

    BAM! Done

With no ActiveSync, I would for sure invest in a backup app. I use Sprite Backup and it's awesome! Automatically backs up my entire Q9 at night and stores it as an executable file on the memory card.

Need to restore? Just click the backup file that you want based on time and date stamp and do selective restores.

Very nice and wouldn't do without it!

I had to Master Reset my phone, so I have nothing on it. How do I use Active Sync to restore my contacts? I did a backup with Sprite, how do I use the file I saved to my computer to restore the stuff? Thanks.

wouldn't the Sprite backup restore the contacts?

have not used Sprite yet, restore info a few posts up + I'm sure it has some instructions included with the program. May need to read thru the help or read me file.

move the sprite file to your Q and click on it..its self installer. and unless you told sprite not to backup your contacts it did.
