    Motorola Q9C vs. Original Q

It is time for me to upgrade my phone. I really like my original Q in black, but it needs a new battery. Since a new Q9c is only $50 for me, I was thinking of upgrading to a Q9c instead of a new battery. Has anyone owned both of these phones? How do they compare? Pros? Cons? I only use the phone for syncing of the calendar with outlook. I do not use it for internet acess or email...Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

A bunch of people here have owned both. I'm sure they'll have some feedback for you.

I've just got a replacement New Q9c from Assurion, replacing the Q1 Black.... So here's a few Pros & Cons of each IMHO.

    Q1 Pros
...Although Windows 5.0, it seemed much more stable of an OS.
    ...All rubberized black casing.

    Q1 Cons
    ...No GPS capabilities.
...No Documents To Go unless you buy an equivilent program.

    Q9c
...Battery has longer talk and standby capacity.
...Internal GPS, although Verizon still requires me to use their VZNavigator software, which is superb.
    ...Comes with Documents To Go.
...Much better TaskManager and MemoryManager programs.
...Sleek silver band around the outer edge of the phone, even though it's not all rubberized.

    Q9c Cons
...Occasional freezes, especially when reinserting miniSD card, although it's rare and even may be related to my old homescreens which I imported from my Q1.
...Must install a recompiled version of TCPMP (and the flash bundle plugin), and onto the device and not to the storage card, in order for it to work properly.

So far, that's all I can remember...:)

Thanks for this thread. This has sbeen what i was considering too , getting the 9c. I currently have the silver 2006 Q. Is it too much to hope for that the Monaco wallets and other cases that i have for Silver Q will fit the q9c? It doesn't look like it will fit.

    Size of Q9c
    Length: 5 5/8
    Width: 2 1/2
    Thickness: 1/4

That will help you find out if your old cases will work with the Q9c.

I have not felt the Q9c in person. The one I can get is black with the silver band around the edge. Are the black parts rubberized or plastic?

Will the silver Q extended battery work on the Q9c? How about desktop charger?

I am glad this thread went up. I am getting a Q9C from Verizon on Wednesday and there are a couple questions I have for myself.

    1. I was curious myself if there is a new software version for this that I need to get when I receive it or if it will be ok right out of the box?

    2. Are there any new or old applications that are a must to get?
