Yes there is. I have Gmail Mobile and Google Maps running on my Q.

Check out this discussion on qusers.com:http://www.qusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1220&highlight=java

    Helped me get mine going.

Once you get it going, if the fonts look funky, read this:http://www.qusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6539

Has anyone got the gmail app to successfully download? I've tried downloading from IE with my Q and it says: "Error - This file cannot be viewed on the device."

I also downloaded Google Maps via the site and put it on my Q. I tried to install it but it gives me some error within the install area. Any ideas?
I've installed the IBM JVM successfully getting the examples to install.

Is there anyway to set up your gmail account using the email functions of the Q or do you have to use Mobile gmail? After entering all relevent info I get in a never ending loop of logging in when trying to get my emails.

    Still struggling

I downloaded the .jad file and explored it over to the Q in the basic folder, but still can't download the actual gmail application. I still get the error stating that "this file cannot be viewed on the device," just like before I put the .jad file on my Q. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Put the jads in the my documents folder. Open the java midlet app. Install the jad by refering to it like file:\\\my documents/1.jad or whatever your jad is named.

If you are using a version of ibm java earlier than v6 make sure your phone has an active internet connection ie the little connection arrows are there on the signal strength.

If you have ibm java v5.x you can browse to jad files in pIE and they open in java. http://www.google.com/gmm for instance will load the newest 1.4.2 maps. Otherwise you need to get your hands on the jads and load them as I described in my other post.

So far this is working pretty well. I have yet to experience the vibrating issue reported at Q-users, but the issue that I do see is the crappy fonts (even with the update... but fonts have always been an issue w/ base-line java and older X systems at that) and that you can't put in an "underscore" (Alt-Shift characters won't transfer into a text field).

The vibrate issue was fixed a couple of releases back. :) I have found that the latest version 6.1.1, 11-10-2006, has a much better font.

So you bought it? Is this not a freeware app?
