I would assume so. I doubt they would push rom updates for every carrier just for this.

my -unasked for- opinion: they are trying to put too much features in these mobile browsers.. which often is not needed if you browse mainly mobile sites which are.. well uhm, created simpler for mobile browsers..

    true.....

but in todays "I gotta havethe latest & greatest" tech world it's what sells. Remember how they said we would never need a cpu faster than xMHz?

all the bells & whistles are fine if they are only loaded when needed. Pointless to load all that stff to read txt. Even more pointless with what is on the shelf now device wise

I'm always looking for a "better" browser. Some places just don't have a mobile site and some render really bad in a mobile browser.
Some of the sites I frequent have photos that the mobile version strips so we do need more features.
I'm hoping for a browser that renders the site, in phone although I know it'll be slow, like opera mini.

The IE6 rendering engine is still 7 years old, (opposed to 11 years as with IE4). WebKit is only 2 years old. I'll upgrade IE to v6, but I'll still stay with SkyFire for my mobile surfing. I sure wouldn't be impressed about a release of a mobile version of WinZip 8.0; I rank a mobile port of IE6 about as impressive as that.

Why not port over the now in development IE8 rendering engine, (or even IE7)?

If you still want to play with it, Gizmodo posted a link to a downloadable emulator of it. Check it out here.

PIE is very stable, but it lacks many modern features, like Flash. IE4 is dated back to the Windows 95 days.

Opera mini has turned out to be a decent alternative.
