I simply need to clear the phonebook!

Sorry if this topic has been done before but I searched the everythingq.com forums as well as Google and couldn't find anything that was relative to my problem. I need to clear the phonebook on my Q9h and do not want to do a master reset and lose other things like texts or my Exchange account. I also am not about to sit for hours deleting them individually as I have hundreds of contacts. Isn't there any way to simply delete all contacts??

The reason I need to clear it is because when I got this phone a few months ago I placed my old sim card from my old Razr into the Q9h and for unknown reasons it created duplicate entries for every contact, some several times. I do have all my contacts in my Outlook so I want to just clear the phone's contacts and sync the contacts back onto the phone. I have also already tried moving all of my contacts in Outlook to a sub folder under Contacts and syncing but it did nothing, all the contacts remain on the phone.

Please help as this is driving me insane!

What if you just move the PIM to different folder then delete it??? That might work... maybe... You might also need to reboot phone after.

Thank you all for responding and for the welcome messages. I moved them to a sub folder so that hopefully when I synced again it would delete all contacts in my phone and then I could move them back and resync, but it did not work.

I did try this too. I moved it to the Temp folder then tried to delete it using both the phone and exploring to it via my PC. But both times when I tried to delete the file it would give me an error saying the file was in use.

I rebooted and still same error when I attempted to move pim.vol to the Temp folder. I also created a new folder and tried to move it there but same result. Contacts isn't listed in my Task Manager.

Try renaming pim to something else like pim2. You should be able to move it after that or possibly just delete it without moving since it has been renamed.

I just tried this and got "Error: Failed, Permission denied!".

It blows my mind that this is so difficult! Has anyone else tried SKTools Lite that was mentioned previously? I'd like to have more input on this before downloading and installing it.

You can explore the phone's file system with active sync? I didn't notice that last night when I was working on mine.

Yes, just sync and open file folders within active sync or wmdc.

Be aware that pim.vol also holds your calendar entries as well as contacts. :gasp:
