I have an HTC Trophy 7 for about two months now. I must say the phone rocks but the OS needs improvements. My problem is that I downloaded two different programs that show Device Information and they both say that the total memory is 474 mb witch 100 MB less than 574 that HTC claims on SPECS. Has anyone else seen this ?

I have never had a phone that stated the exact memory quoted in the specs. Some memories are allocated/reserved to phone services, which are not accessible to users. My HTC Surround is supposed to have 16GB but my phone states that it has a total of 14.63GB.

My HTC trophy came with 8 GBs of space for applications and personal data but this is not what I am talking about. I downloaded Device Info app from marketplace and It shows 7,16 Gb space, but I am curius for the 475 MB of total memory RAM. It is supposed to have 576 MB Total RAM.

Same answer. Some of the RAM memory is allocated to phone services.

By the way, your HTC came with 16GB or did you manage to upgrade it yourself, because mine came with 8GB here in Greece

Now, that is something interesting. I am in the process of upgrading mine, but I haven't figured out the brand of micro SD to use yet. Have you noticed any improvement at the speed of the phone or any degration so ever ?.

    1) Opened the back cover
    2) Unscrewed the screws on the orange plastic.
    3) Pried open the black cover around the orange plastic (the black cover comes out with the orange plastic) using a plastic phone calling card or credit card (I use card instead of metal objects so as to not damage the cover)
    4) Peeled the metallic foil to reveal the SD Card
    5) Swapped the SD card with a higher capacity
    6) Covered back with the metallic foil.
    7) Fix the black cover and the orange plastic back (During this ensure that the volumer rocker is in the right position)
    8) Fix the screws back
    9) Put the battery back and close the back cover.

Thank you very much. What precautions I should take before doing this? And from a scale from one to ten, what's the risk level? And have you encountered any problems after upgrading

Warranty will be void if you open the orange plastic. Risk level zero as it is just straight forward. Also, take care when you peel the metallic foil.
No problems till today after upgrading. Infact, I am enjoying the phone more and more eberyday.

How about your data and settings saved? I heard if u changed the memory card, the phone will be factory reset. What if i copied all the data from the old SD card to the New one? And does WP7 support 32GB?

The only data I had to save was my pictures.
My contacts are saved on the cloud.
I only lost my sms as their was no way to save it

yes. The phone will be factory reset after you install the new sd card.
Copying the data will not work as the card will be wiped by Wp7.

I am not sure about 32gb cards as I have not tried yet.

Thanks for the info. 8GB is too limiting for me. O would definitely consider an upgrade.
