    home page "email" spot

    Im at work (on my Q) so if this is a repeat question, forgive me... unfortunately there is no *search* feature on the "wap" site...

    Im wondering is there is any way to make the "email (_)" reminder on the home page display personal email count rather than Outlook email count?

    thanks in advance!

    copy the xml file from 'application data\home' to a PC
    then use note pad on the PC to change the plugin to point to unread emails

    if you dont feel comfortable you can:
    1. get a new screen from the collection...all screens there point to unread messages and NOT active sync
    2. or you can post the xml file here and we can edit it for you

    ok well 1 more thing and I will get out of your hair...

    which xml file do I use? I have the following in my /application data/home folder:

    green.scheme.xml
    guava.scheme.xml
    full.home.xml
    nomru.home.xml
    simple.home.xml
    largefont.home.xml

    my guess is either "full" or "simple" but im not entirely sure...

    thanks again!

    haha i knew you were going to ask that!
    honestly i have no idea since i cant see your Q

    go to
    start
    settings
    homescreens

    and look at the name of the screen you are using and then find that file in the folder
    the name of the file will be the first part of the homscreen file
    (file name here).home.xml

    Well I have read a number of threads pointing me in the right direction (thanks to Scott) and Ive gotten to the point where Im trying to edit my "full.home.xml" file to point my "email (_)" counter to my Yahoo! instead of Outlook (since I dont have Outlook, nor care to pay for it).

    So I open my .xml file in Notepad, replace the "activesync" with "Yahoo" and try to save it. But it wont let me save it as an .xml file, it automaticallly reverts to a .txt file WHICH I DONT WANT!:angry:

    Im getting kinda frustrated but Im not sure what to do next.

    Any opinions?

    Thanks Scott for all your help so far! :2cool:

    Where this is bold is the new code..just replace the "activesync" with that!

    <label y="84" x="138" halign="left" bgcolor="transparent" font size="12" fgcolor="#FFFFFF">
    <text>E-Mail: <unreadEmail/>
    </text>
    </label>

    Thanks for the info TreeFrog its just that after replacing it i cant seem to save the file as the .xml that it is. It wants me to save as a .txt and thats not what is needed.

    Ok i copied the new file into "application data/home" and it replaced the old one (which i backed up on my PC). Then I changed my home screen, back ALL the way out to the home screen, then went back and changed to the VZW screen I want.

    I just sent myself an email and have the Q set to ck every 5 min (just for this test)

    I guess its a waiting game now....

    I will ck back with results....

    ***EDIT***

    Didnt work... I just got the usual "envelope" in the top banner but the email counter stayed at 0...

    I may just say screw it and keep it the way it came...
