No problem..........GOOD LUCK
Let me know how it comes out
Well i did the master reset and tried doing it all over again and nothing happens i cant even open my contacts so i guesss it is helpless
It's not helpless....
Put back-up pim.vol on your phone some where you will find it (storage card?)
Re-name the pim.vol you want to replace to pim.volold or pim.old
Now you should be able to copy/move your contact pim.vol over that has your contacts.
I had trouble with this too after the MOL update. I had to re-start phone after re-naming the pim.vol to pim.old on phone. Was able to replace it with my back up after that.
Take it slow --you'll get it.
dude copy pim to your storage card from your compuet then disconnect ur usb cable then on your phone go to task manager and make sure contacts is closed if not then hit menu kill on contacts then go to file manager on your q go to storage card where you saved it. thwn hit menu xopy then copy it ..then when it askes to overwrite choose yes
Thank you all! through these forums, i was able to:
back up my contacts
do a master reset
regain my contacts
excellent...glad we could help
it's what we do...
glad we can help, don't forget to tip your waitress :-p
for future reference,
I made an initial backup with sprite backup
used sprite explorer to open the backup folder
went to the databases and found the pim.vol file
drag and dropped it to my desktop
using the activesync i renamed the original pim.vol to altpim.vol (guess it could be anything)
again with activesync i drag and dropped the new pim.vol to root folder of the phone(the one with the original pim.vol in it)
power cycled the phone
pushed contacts and ALL my contacts were back
Even the pictures
Hope i helped
pim.vol original location
Hi I have completely massacred my file directory. I've moved things for months. The time has come to fess up. Would someone happen to know the name of the original location where the pim.vol is stored? I keep hearing about a root menu, is the folder called root menu? am I a total ditz?
"Root" directory is the first thing you open up. Open the file manager on the phone and just scroll down. You will see file folder, but keep scrolling. pim.vol should be near the bottom...
My Q9M reset itself & I have lost my contacts TXT & Notes
I have a similar problem and could really use some help. My Q9M reset itslef when I pressed send to answer the phone. My customized screen was gone, my contacts are gone and all of my text msg's are gone. It appears to have done a master reset? I checked the size of the pim.vol(which I believe contains my contacts & text msg's?) & the size is 324.0Kb so their must still be data in there? Is their any way to get my contacts & test msg's back?
Try soft re-setting the phone by turning off and on. See if that helps anything. Then we'll go from there....
I tried the soft re-set and that didnt help. It is still the same. Just like a new phone
the pim.vol contains contacts & calander info
hate to say it but everything got wiped. My pim.vol is 350kb with maybe 15 contacts...320 sounds kinda empty
Argh! I was really hoping to find the txt msg's & notes since I have many on the contacts already.
another nood for dashwire.
yep, or Jeyo (not free)
Do you know where the test messages are stored? Perhaps I can still find them?
If they are not in your inbox, they are gone. your carrier may be able to do something
