Windows Live Search will beep when you need to turn. At that point, a quick glance at the device should tell you which way to turn. I haven't tried Google Maps yet for directions, so I'm not sure if it does the same.

    Hope this helps.

Is there a way to use any gps program without a data plan? I have a q9c flashed to Cricket, and I don't have a data plan.

Is this suppose to work with the GPS set to "location on"? My Gps on my Alltel Q9c only has the options of "911" or 'Location On".

I am going to give it a try anyway.

Ok it is trying to look up my location, but on Google Maps it just keeps searching, WLS after 3 to 5 minutes it says that it cannot find my location.

How long does it take when you are outside to find its position?

This feature is dependant upon your carrier. For instance, Sprint users have this ability, but USCC users do not - we have to use an external bluetooth receiver (at least as of this writing). I don't think VZW users have the ability, either, but I could be wrong there.

    Good luck!

If someone gets the internal GPS on Alltel to work, let me know...

I have searched and tried what I have found, but so far it's a no go.

If you have Alltel as your service provider and can get Google Maps or WLS to work, please let me know how.

    I will do the same.

    Thank you!

The problem is that on the Alltel Q9c we cannot get any bluetooth GPS antenna to work, our phones are not programmed to recognize and use them.

To work with the built-in-GPS, NO it will not work. As n99hocky said you have to have an Bluetooth enbled GPS antenna. Finally got my phone to connect and RUN the GPS antenna that I have.

I have my Google Maps set to Com 1, 19200. It's possible that you could use a faster setting - I just haven't taken the time to test it.
