I got the Gmail app along with the fonts working great with the following steps:

1.) Download IBM Java from: http://files.filefront.com//;6090608;;/

2.) Copy the entire J9 folder to the root of your Q keeping directory structure

3.) In the J9\MIDP20 folder create a subfolder called apps

4.) Download the Gmail jar file from: http://gmail.com/app/v1.0.0/en/gmail-g.jar

5.) Download Gmail jad from: http://gmail.com/app/v1.0.0/en/gm-Generic-Advanced_MIDP2.jad

6.) Rename the jad file gmail.jad for simplicity

    7.) Copy both gmail.jad & gmail-g.jar to \J9\MIDP20\apps

    8.) Run emulator.exe found in \J9\MIDP20\bin

9.) Select install and in the drop down box select "/"

10.) In the URL box type \J9\MIDP20\apps\gmail.jad

11.) Follow prompts until you see the application has been installed successfully

12.) Create a text file for a direct shortcut to the Gmail java app

13.) Use the following line for the shortcut (keep it a single line):
    197#"\J9\MIDP20\bin\j9midp20.exe" -classpath "\J9\MIDP20\apps\gmail-g.jar" "-Xbootclasspath:\J9\MIDP20\lib\jclMidp20\jclMidp20.jxe" javax.microedition.lcdui.AppManager "\J9\MIDP20\apps\gmail.jad"

14.) Save the text file as Gmail.lnk

    15.) Copy Gmail.lnk to \Windows\Start Menu

16.) To fix fonts download http://mysite.verizon.net/res00tqh/fontPaths.jar

    17.) Copy fontPaths.jar to \J9\MIDP20\lib\jclMidp20\ext

18.) Optional: Create a speed dial shortcut for one click access from your homescreen

Credit goes to OMNIX on the Qusers forum for this info...

It drains battery because POP is innefficiant, especially if you check every 15 minuts, it's not Pocket Outlooks's fault really. ;-)

    Pneunma:

Does that methods solve the problem with the missing titlebar for you? I find that rather annoying myself...

What missing titlebar? Can you provide a screenshot?

I don't notice anything missing. There is a bar above my messages that has the gmail logo and the count of unread mails.

Thanks for posting this Pneuma. It worked perfectly. I only had one problem that did have me stumped for a while. I copy and pasted your path for the Gmail.lnk and it didn't work. I think the space between "jclMidp20."and "jxe" breaks the path when you copy it off of the forum.

I got it working by copying and pasting Omnix's link. Just a heads up.

    Font

How clear is the font supposed to be? I mean I followed all the steps and I am able to read my mail, but the font is small and close togethor and its not completely black. Did I do everything correct?

So I'll click on the "MIDP-AMS icon...it'll take me to "Gmail-1.1.0"....I'll click on Actions, then Launch...it'll take me to the Gmail page asking for Username and Password. Is this how you guys get Gmail Mobile to work as well? Also, is there a way that it'll remember my username and password (because I have to put them in everytime).
