    full screen video update?

i came across this post in the sticky by dmxoneiuv:

"Here’s a great tip for us Smartphone users. This will let video play in full screen in Windows Media Player:

    1) Open the registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/ASFCodecs/Video

    2) For each codec listed, change the "Preferred Width" value to 220 and the "Preferred Height" value to 176. If you’ve got a QVGA screen, change the values accordingly.
    3) Delete the file "WMPInfo.xml" on the phone.

    ----------

thats the one, thanks tj!2k6. i tried to complete this registry hack but under ASFCodecs, i only have Audio, nothing that says Video. does anyone know if we can add the value or string for video and put in the width and height? it sucks playing videos on the Q and even when u pick "fullscreen" its still surrounded by so much black space, i want it to take up the WHOLE screen area"

i too don't have a video file, was there ever an update on this? i'm using total commander, but does it matter what type of regedit program you're using?

that may work fine, but what if your vid isn't formatted for those dimension? It will either be squished or a streatched pixelated mess. Or maybe not * uses TCPMP *

i checked out the link provided by rudeboy and am stuck at this part:

"Copy this file to your PC, and open in Notepad. Edit all of the "Height" and "Width" values you can set them to 240 and 320 respectively (set all of them)."

the file i'm supposed to copy is the WMSyncCaps.xml file, but the only option on MRE is to export the folder that it's in to notepad and it comes out looking like this:

    REGEDIT4
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WMDM]
    "WMDMCapabilities"="\Windows\WMSyncCaps.xml"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WMDM\CurrentInUseVersion]
    @="3.0"

what am i doing wrong or not doing here?

ok, i had one of the tech guys here at work walk me through the entire thing and i believe i'm at the last step where you have to find and remove the WMPInfo.xml file. i'll mess with it a little while i wait for my tech guy to be available, but in the meanwhile where is that file?

    hi,

I like to know how to have video display at fullscreen (instead of small square in middle of the screen) but the registry hack doesn't work (no codec in the video key, and I'm playing rtsp sdp streaming)

not sure about the wmdm key hack though, any advise?

i followed the instructions from this link:

    http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/154457.aspx

the only part i couldn't do was the very last step which was to remove the WMPInfo.xml file. i even tried the alternative to have it point to the new file and that didn't work. at that point, it wasn't worth it to me anymore lol

    do you mean coreplayer?

unfortunately the old TCMP doesn't support rtsp streaming. OTOH, the new coreplayer doesn't seem to playback rtsp media well even though it claims to support that.

default media player is good enough for me, just the lack of full video size is killing me.
