Just out of curiousity I checked out Elfin Lied on YouTube and... well.... kinda disturbing to say the least. But I can see how some might go for it, considering the huge popularity of Saw, Hills have Eyes, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc, etc.
Never been a fan of gore myself, but to each their own right?...

    Ninja Scroll looks promising though...

I have nearly all the original comic book series, and I have the original widescreen undubbed VHS verison of Akira.

Picked up the DVD when that came out. I don't particularly watch anime, but this is one of my favorite movies.

I was even happier to hear This.

    No particular order:

Vampire Hunter D - What really got me into anime back in the days of pre-politically correctness when Sci-Fi could run a show every Saturday called Japanime Saturday or was it Saturday Japanime...

Cowboy Bebop - Tear up every time
    Inuyasha
    Lupin III
    Trigun
Rurouni Kenshin - Huge huge fan ^_^
    DB
    DBZ
    Big O
    Howl's Moving Castle
    Castle in the Sky
    Spirited Away
    Kiki's Delivery Service
    Samurai X
    Chobits
    Angelic Layer
    Transformers
    Bleach
    Naruto
    Psychic Acadamy
Gauken Alice (which is actually coming out in English soon I recall)
    Samurai Deeper Kyo
    Fruits Basket
Boys Over Flowers - Just found this one rather funny

And Chibi Vampire once it comes out (saw in either the last manga or the one before it that it's becoming an anime, should be pretty damned hilarious)

There's more, but I'm tired of typing and it's becoming more like a list of every anime I've seen as I tend to like most all of them quite strongly.

I really need more shelf space... both for books and DVDs. Need to get them off the floor...

Hehe, a small one. 2 rows on a standard media rack of all anime, plus however much has spilled over to being stacked on top of the rack and on the front of my book shelves (mostly anime movies and boxed sets), plus around 300-400GB of anime on my filesever.

I come from the Kimba and Speed Racer generation so I have been watching for quite a while. Just got into actually seeking it out in the last few years.

Hehe, never seen Kimba, though I know it's the basis for the Lion King. Have seen Speed Racer though. I want to see the live action movie they are making of it. You'll notice how I tossed Transformers in my list though I refrained from Voltron, Thundercats, and a few others from the same early time period in which I called them cartoons like everything else I watched on Saturday mornings back then.

"back then" for me we are talking early to mid 70's I turned 10 in 76 good year that was...everything bicentenial lol

Kimba is great, I appreciate the art aspect of it now even more than when I was a kid. The story lines are interesting as well.

OMG WitchBlade is coming on in 2 minutes! lol

Thats was back in the days when cartoons were worth gettin up for. Nowadays, its pure crap with all the sarcastic cartoons and stupid plots.

I usually only watched Cartoon Network for a while, but anymore, I almost never do. There's almost never anything on. Just a bunch of stupid crap. Granted a lot of it is so stupid it's amusing in a way, but it's nothing like the stuff I used to watch. Even the Midnight Run is usually not that good anymore, though they have had some good stuff on occasionally lately, but I'm in such a habit of not watching it, that I never remember to tune in anymore.
