It's called Flash Lite, it lets you run SWFs, it does not embed in IE or play video. It's on the Adobe site somewhere, it does work on the Q.

    Hi.

I came across this forum doing a Google search trying to figure out this very thing.

Has anyone figured out how to get flash lite installed on the Moto Q yet.

This for me has been thus far the only real disappointment about the phone...other than that I love it.

    Thanks for your help.

Well I finaly figured out how to get it installed, but now I'm not sure what to do with it. I had hoped that it would allow me to view embedded video like on myspace but unless I'm doing something wrong it just doesn't work for that. So now I'm wondering what is the purpose of having it on my phone at all?

I'm about to try it out. I suppose it only allows you to open stored SWF files, from what I gather.

    Update...

Well I got this thing installed, then copied a bunch of SWF files I had to try them out. Unfortunately, this is fairly useless on the Q at least. Almost any flash file that was more than about 1.5MB in size would fail to load with an "out of memory" error, even after ensuring I had killed all running tasks prior. I tried reinstalling to internal memory instead of the storage card, too, just to make sure that wasn't the reason.

The ones that did run seemed to need to drop a lot of video frames just to stay in sync. Overall, a disappointment.

Adobe Flash Player 7 on the Q

I found this blog describing how you can run Flash Player 7 (for PPC) on your Q. I loaded it on my Q. Some embedded flash does work; some does not. I don't use you tube or my space, so I can't say if it works for those sites. The blog does show that it works for you tube. I have tried to listen to a radio stream, and the flash player for the site does work. The sound was choppy. I don't know if it was the ads that were being downloaded or the player itself. I am back to using the stream center.
