    Email Alternative for Yahoo!Go Needed

I just received notice on my Q9C from Yahoo that their Yahoo!Go app will no longer run after 1/12/10 - essentially they're driving everyone to use a mobile browser based access. Their explanation is typical corporate yada-yada which boils down to a decision to fix something that, IMHO, wasn't broken.

    I'm on Verizon Wireless.

Getting my email through a mobile browser based interface rather than Yahoo!Go is one of those things that fall under the "Yes, it can be done, but why would I want to?" category especially given all the zoom in/out that I'd have to go through to login, read, reply, etc. Also, I maintain different mail accounts on Yahoo for business and personal purposes with differing settings for message handling on each. I use Yahoo!Go for my business mail and the standard messaging program for personal.

Is anyone getting their Yahoo mail in a useful manner through a non-browser app that allows reasonably easy tweaking with different accounts?

    Suggestions?

    Thanx for any help.

I've only used WM 6.1 so i dont know if other versions are different but 6.1 has an email app built-in the message center. I use it with yahoo and works fine for me.

why not just setup yahoo mail as an IMAP or POP3 account using the email function of the phone?

Problems with Q9C Email Messaging Options

First, thanks to all for their thoughts.

One of the problems with the regular messaging app on my Q9C arises when trying to set up additional accounts from the same provider. I currently have both a business and personal email account on Yahoo.

When I try to set up the 2nd account, the app reads it as a modification of an account at yahoo.com which is where the 1st Yahoo account is also at and overwrites the parameters (password, etc.). I was hoping there was an app that would easily support different accounts from the same provider. If there's a way around this on the standard messaging app, I'd be happy to give it a try.

even when you hit setup new email?
it should have you start from scratch there should be no reason why it reverts to the other email account and changes anything

I just tried it with a dummy account. I changed the name to Yahoo!2 and it didn't touch my first account.

The key is changing the default name that Setup chooses.

    Thanks for the fix

The messaging app DOES work (my bad).

I was missing a step for naming the connection during setup.

    Thanks again.

Same concern here, but a different issue: I use Yahoo! Go to sync my contacts with my Yahoo Mail. I would PAY if Yahoo offered an exchange service, but they don't.

I've used SEVEN for push e-mail for my Yahoo e-mail, and though it offers syncing of contacts, it's a horror of some of the problems I've had using that.

That said, any other way to sync contacts with Yahoo Mail?

Yes, but I've used Yahoo as my primary e-mail account for over 12 years.

Well, it should be shutting down anytime now. Anyone have another option for syncing my contacts with Yahoo?

Gmail. It can import your Yahoo contacts and read your Yahoo email and reply as if you were sending from Yahoo and push your email.
