    Downloading New Applications

Hello, this is my first post. I've just received my new Q9M. I'm a loooonnngg time Treo user who just couldn't put up with all the problems, so I'm probably going to be asking tons of questions. Going from Palm OS to WM6 is like learning a new language.

1st question: I want to download Google Maps for my Q9M. I go to the download page and it tells me to "download CAB and ActiveSync"

I've downloaded the file to my computer, but how do I get it to ActiveSync to my Q9M?

    Many thanks

You can just go to the site from your device google.com/m/products and it is the third item down that says download. Download it and it will store to My Documents in the File Manager and then just run it and it will install.

That's the URL I was trying to think of.

    Start
    File Manager
    My Documents

Next you will see it in the Start Menu

Downloading directly from the net worked, but not putting in the My Documents folder.

For future reference, if I have to download a CAB, do I extract the files and then put all of them in the folder or just the downloaded file???

    Clear as mud :)

Put the whole CAB on the phone and run it. It will do the job on its own.

Yes...what ^^ he said. As I ONLY HAVE MY Q, I depend on programs or applications that are .cab files. Just click the .cab and it will install itself directly into My Documents. It will also install an icon on your Start Menu (which will appear on your screen once initiated). It's just click and enjoy after that.
BTW...you can either delete or save your .cab files to a seperate folder on the Q (I save mine on the Storage Card for future use, ie, maybe I have to do a hard reset) the choice is yours. Oh! Welcome!
