Is Verizon a carrier that lets you activate phones in seconds on their website? I'm on USCC and they don't do that at all. I remember folks on the Verizon GPS thread switching phones every few minutes to test changes.
VZW does allow me to activate a phone at will online. The thing is though, there aren't really changes that I can make. I did hard reset the thing as I mentioned but other than that, not too much I can do (I think). Also the nature of the problem seems random at best, so not sure how to test it.
I am going for the Droid at 12:30am. Wish me luck !!! lol I am trying for a very early upgrade. on verizon ... *611 is your friend. sent from my soon to be shelved Q9c (its been a great phone)
*611 is how you talk to customer service at VZW. The reason I said that is because they have more power than the agents in the store. I called them and wanted an early upgrade to the Droid. Well it seems I have not had my Q9c a year yet. But, she said she could call me on the 15th when my one year is up and will then be able to upgrade me to the Droid !!! I wont get the new every two credit but will get the phone for $199. That is unless I change my mind by then. So far the reviews are looking pretty good so I dont think that will happen.
Thanks. Appreciate the info. I guess whenever I've needed customer service, I've called the 1-800 number.
That's good to know. I would have looked like a total n00b if I had tried to help my girlfriend with her VZW phone and not known that.
Please tell me how the ROM update is accomplished so I don't accidentally do it!! Can someone explain the ROM update and how was it done? I need to know so I don't accidentally do it. Cause my Saga works flawlessly! I seriously could not be happier with this phone. After reading all the reasons everyone seems to hate the phone, I'm in disbelief...only due to the fact at how well my phone works. No dropped calls ever. Perfect call quality 97% of the time (that's subjective of course). If I have it connected to the lappy I get internet speeds faster than the hotels I stay at (not to mention it's my own secure connect) Even while on the net a call comes in..no big deal answer...finish the call and within 3 secs of hanging up I'm back on the net without having to push any buttons etc. All my email comes through perfectly every 30 mins (that's quick enough for me). And on a bonus note unlike the BB it opens all my files pdf doc etc natively. And it updates the time automatically when I change time zones (unlike the BB). Sorry for the soapbox but because it works so darn well... I just don't understand why everyone is hating this phone. So Please someone tell me how to avoid this ROM update.... Monk p.s. there are a couple of negatives. my speakerphone worked great for about the first week. now sounds like garbage...and the random screen wake ups..but I think I read a solution to that on here somewhere. I;ll have a look
You have to go download the ROM, plug your phone into your computer and install the update. I don't think it's the kind of thing you can do by accident.
Ah...great. Thanks. Was curious if it was the *228 thing. I haven't done that either since I got the phone. Figure it works perfectly now...not going to touch it.
Not everyone does. As with most things in life, the bitchy wheel gets the most grease and people tend to bitch more than they praise. In many cases, the Saga is a great phone. I happen to love mine, despite some occassional issues. There are perhaps always things it could do better, but it does what it does better than any phone I've ever had.
Totally agree with you - best phone I've had and I've had a few. I am one of the minority that didn't do the ROM upgrade - been tempted a few times, but glad I held out (GPS is not a necessity - only a nicety). I keep hoping for a 6.5 upgrade like the Jack just got - oh please, great Samsung director of which phones get upgraded, please help out the Saga faithful! :dft012:wink
I'm hovering on "somewhat satisfied" with my Saga. It's starting to lag when starting apps. It's freezing a lot more as well which means a lot of soft resets. Grrr. The only program I've added is the Skyfire browser. I've removed and reinstalled it, but that hasn't helped. I dunno, but the Droid is looking better and better. My concerns with that all have to do with exchange email, tasks, and such...and now I've read on EA that there might be flash support next year? I might have to get in line sooner, rather than later.
