Display Static Icons on home screen?

I want to be able to set up icons for say, Messagine, Calendar and contacts... but just those. Apparently the bar of icons i have on my home screen now changes based on what you opened recently. the MRU bar i supposed its called. Heres the thing, i dont WANT the most recently used programs, i want to be able to display shortcuts to the 9 programs that i decide on, regardless of how often they are used

    any ideas?

The VZW Classic Layout works the way you are wanting. All the other home screen layouts do not. Then......the classic layout also does not read all email acounts properly. Always something with computers.

There's no built in way to do this that doesnt require 3rd party software or money? i cant imagine paying just to add shortcuts

yeah, i just dont like the layout style of VZW classic... this kinda sucks, that you have to pick a theme that you dont like something about, you would have thought something like icons would be the easiest thing to allow us to choose

you could just find the plugin code from the vzw standard screen and use that
but facade is much better and has lots more to offer....but its up to you

ok so i have the trial for facade... seems neat but i would want to do some customizing like removing the iconbar at the top (not part of facade technically) and stuff like that, is it highly customizable?

15$ seems pricey for phone software (i have never bought any before) but is it gonna save the hassle of having to find some other random theme on the internet?

thats part of the xml file of the screen just use notepad to remove that info

it might seem pricy but has alot of good features...play with it for a bit and you can add it to any theme you want

You can absolutely do this without a third party application on the Q9m.

Go to Personalize my Q -> Home Screen Shortcuts
Choose User Defined Shortcuts, and then go to Define Shortcuts to set what you want to see.

I always get a kick out of this. You will go out and spend $15 on lunch but you don't want to pay $15 for software.

I used the above directions (Start>Personalize My Q>Home Screen Shortcuts>Define Shortcuts) and it worked fine. However, I tried to set the order of the shortcuts (Define Shortcuts>Menu[right softkey]>Set Order) they do not stick. Has anyone had this happen before or does anyone know a fix?

Just a thought... Make sure after you define the order you click DONE (left soft key) all the way through until you get back to Start Menu...

Well... I am using the VZW Classic layout. I used the directions to edit the homescreen icons and even set the order, but the MRU just stays put the way it was..
    Am I missing something?

Yes. The defined home screen icons only seem to work with the "VZW Layout", not with the VZW Classic Layout (or any other that I tried.)
