I was wondering if anyone else is seeing a problem with their Focus. When I attempt to turn off the phone it goes off then immediately comes back on. Usually it takes me 2 or 3 attempts before it shuts off. My guess is that it is a software problem and an update will eventually take care of it. But, if it is a software problem I would imagine others are seeing a similar problem.

If it is hardware then I could get that replaced.

    Thanks.

Is your phone plugged in to a charger when you try to turn it off? A few phones I have owned in the past, including my current Focus, exhibit this behavior when charging or linked to a PC.

Thank you for the reply. It tends to do it more when charging but it does it other times as well. It's funny that since I posted the question it seems to be working better now.

The maual says the phone will not stay turned off when connected to an external power supply.

My phone does it every time when charging. I think it is by design, because otherwise it does not do it at all.

That seems weird. I just tried it and it will shut off (at least the screen) when you hit the button when charging.

That's just the backlight. But the phone is still on. The phone probably needs to be to charge and definitely needs to be to take advantage of wireless sync.

Oh wait. I think we misunderstood your problem. I believe you are just refering to the backlight and not the phone turning on/off? If that is the case, then yes the screen backlight should turn off and stay off if plugged into a charger.

Simply restarting the phone should fix your problem.

@RichS I think he is just refering to the backlight not actually turning the phone off.

Ok, the backlight should follow the time-out settings that are configured on the phone.

From what I read from the OP's question, the actual phone itself is turning on by itself.
The only time mine does this is when plugged into a charger, and that it's supposed to do.
However, it doesn't turn on by itself if I just power down the phone.

Sorry for the confusion. By turning off I meant the screen. Yes, the phone pretty much is always on to receive calls.
