    Changing the Verizon Startup/shutdown

    First off I'd like to thank everyone for all the helpful discussions that have me well on my way to full customization. However, I do have one thing that I haven't been able to find a difinitive answer to.

    I want to change the black verizon screen on startup and the blueish on on shutdown. I have found teh file of which I thought were them (startupvz.jpg) and (16_Carrier_shutdown_131.jpg) but it still does not work. Any idea? Has anyone ever successfully changed these?

    you have to use either total commander or resco editor to overwrite the ROM files...you cant use the standard file manager it wont let you

    Well I sucessfully overwrote those files and have rebooted many times. I've sucessfully changed all the splash screens for calling and info as well as the windows startup and shutdown and replaced the start up animation.

    I still can't get the initial verizon to change nor can i get the terminal one too. Is a soft reset different from rebooting?

    i figured -without having it done myself since i go weeks with out restarting- it was an easy hack, seems to be more involved w/ very little result unless you power-down and power-up the phone a number of times a day.

    Did you do the registry hack to point to other image files for startup and shutdown? If so, they only tell you about 3, but there's 4 in the registry. Two for startup, 2 for shutdown.

    Hope this makes sense.

    It makes sense, however rather than changing the registry I changed the fiels that it points to. I believe the files in the registry are for the screens I already have working.

    What is the registry location for the initial black verizon logo and the light blue one immediately before power off. Are those the same as the stickied thread?

    but still -in my opinion- too much effort for 1 reboot in about 2 weeks :}

    The one I'm talking about is the light blue one on power off. I don't believe you can change the initial black verizon logo. It's probably in the ROM somewhere.

    Here's that hack:

    He mentions 3 keys, but there's also another Shutdown key, but I forgot the exact name.

    I figured it out. The last one links from \application data\home\xxxx.png I had stored the file in \windows and didn't cath the difference.

    Now the only verizon is the one on start up which sounds like its permanent.

    Thanks for all the help.

    I'm also wondering how to change/disable the verizon startup image/animation.
