can't install app, activesync won't work on vista

I'm trying to install a notepad type app on my motorola q, but I can't because activesync won't run on vista. I have windows mobile device center, and the installation for the app(s) won't work through that. Does anyone know if a free notepad type app that'll install through windows mobile device center instead of activesync? I just want a basic text editor, just like notepad, nothing fancy. thanks

what is the file type you are trying to install?
can you find the .cab file and just load it on the Q and install it from the device?

and no you need windows mobile device center for vista and w7, active sync for XP

I'm trying to install vieka wordpad (http://vieka.com/wordpad.htm). I see that there's a download link to just the cab file.. should I transfer the cab file to my Q then just open that file? thanks!

Yes move the .cab file to the q or even go to the site from the q and download it
Then with a file manager click on the .cab to install it

I prefer everyone as a note app since you can sync with the pc OTA
