Bought a 9m but Verizon won't activate

    Changing an ESN number is illegal as far as I know.
    It's like changing the VIN number on a stolen car.

    The mention of it on some forums can get you warned or banned.

    Well, I collect classic cars and you can legally change the VIN number if
    you can verify it's origin.
    I can't help with phones. Anything you do, seems like they won't cover
    under warranty anyway. Maybe you can find a broken phone from someone
    and use that phones number?
