Do you have 6.1? If you do, it's under settings > home screen > time out

I can't remember where it is for 6.0. Could be under power management in settings.

I think the OP is just looking for something that will pop back to the homescreen after sending a text.

This setting would just cause his Q to pop back to the homescreen after some defined period of inactivity.

True, but hey, op wanted options other than hitting the home button. But then again, the fastest time out is 10 secs. Home button is still faster.

using smartphone popups, when you get a text, it pops up, reply to it and send, the home screen pops up or the last thing you were doing before the popup. close enough.

I don't think it was uncalled for and I don't think he was trying to hurt your feelings even if his intentions were to be sarcastic. The fact is that I had the exact same reaction and I am sure anyone who has read this post has had it too.

Smartphones you had that do that are also not WM based I am assuming and in WM based phones/devices the assumption is that the user wants to assert more control and not be led by the nose on everything. I mean if a phone decided what I wanted to do next without me having a say in it, I would be rather pissed. What if most users want to stay there and do something else, why should it automatically send them anywhere? Think about that for a sec and if you still want it to do that, then use the next best option and set the timeout to a very low interval and watch it do it for you.

I can see why...sorry I forgot that replying to your message will not include the other person's message that you included, I should have included his message. The first part of my message was for you and the second part was answering his post. I will fix that now :)
