Auto SMS cleanup for Windows Mobile??

After finally tracking down the reason my q was lagging freezing and crashing, which was the 800 or so SMS messages it had stored in it. These were all stored in the main memory i think.

Windows Mobile 6.1 converted the phone to default to threaded SMS, so you only saw the last few SMS's in a convo. And it would have been a royal pain to go through and delete them, especially since I have a few people I text every day.

So I'm wondering after looking, is there a utility or option to auto delete texts after a certain number of days? I poked around but couldn't find anything. My motorola razr and e815 both had this, although they had a limited amount of text memory. Apparently so does the q9c if you want it to run properly.

    Thanks in advance

hmm not sure why you say its difficult to delete them? if you are at the "main" texting page where it lists the threaded convos by contact name, you can simply highlight and delete which contact you want gone and all sent/rcvd texts from that contact will be deleted. i find it much better than wm6.0

Because I guess I'd like to keep the last few days of the conversation rather than erase the entire thing in one foul swoop.

As you keep talking back and forth, the threaded sms just gets saved, and you have to keep clicking older and older to get to the begining of a thread. Especially if you've let it go 100+ messages long.

Something that simply deletes messages automatically after a certain period of time would be much better for my purposes.

yep, go into the automation settings and adjust the settings for the stuff you want cleaned up and say yes to messaging and set a schedule to do it. it will delete any and all messages. set it for a certain day, once a week..what ever.
