    Active Sync Issue

Ive had my Q9c for about 4 months now and have been using ActiveSync flawlessly. Everything has worked perfectly until lastnite when i went to Sync and it said the device was not found. I tried over and over to no avail. So i re-installed activesync on my computer and it now says something about Outlook Mail having to be the default or something?... I do not use Outlook and I never have.. what does this mean? and why all the sudden did this happen?.. please help

I've got another ActiveSync issue for ya...

For a while it was working fine. Then one day it stopped recognizing my phone. Windows makes the hardware recognition sound, but ActiveSync never detects it and "My Computer" will not show me anything under "Mobile Device" (Mobile device is always displayed, but browsing it shows the device files when your device is physically connected - or it's supposed to anyway).

If I disconnect the Moto Q and restart my computer and then reconnect it after I've logged into XP, ActiveSync will see it. However once I disconnect the Q and try to reconnect it minutes later, it doesn't recognize it again until I reboot.

I've tried killing the 3 processes that run with activesync from the task manager on XP (rapimgr.exe, WCESmgr.exe, & wcescomm.exe) and then relaunching activesync. It still won't detect the phone until I reboot again.

I don't want to have to reboot my PC each time just to sync my contacts; not to mention this makes taking a backup with Sprite Mobile via the PC impossible because when it disconnects from the phone to allow the phone to reboot it won't recognize the phone again when it comes back on so it can continue.

    Any thoughts?

you could try deleting your partnership with active sync and sync again

I tried to write everything I did to troubleshoot in the above post, but omitted some obvious things because it was long enough already.

I already tried deleting the partnerships on both the PC AND the Mobile and reconnecting still doesn't work unless I reboot the PC. I'm thinking there's something with Windows XP that's preventing it because it should still be browsable in My Computer even if Activesync isn't running or seeing it correct? Or is "Mobile Device" under My Computer tied directly to ActiveSync where ActiveSync has to see it first before you can browse the device this way?

I've also disabled all firewall and anti-virus software. (No, windows firewall isn't running - I don't use that junk.)

Try turning on your wireless internet on your laptop. you do have a laptop right? If not, try that anyway. My activesync won't recognize a connection unless I turn the wireless on. If you don't have wireless internet, just enable any internet connection you have. That should work.

Thanks for the suggestion, but this is being connected to a desktop PC with a hard wired LAN connection.

i think if it had more of an extreme text type of presence (small program and quick to load) i would love to use it
if it was strickly html email for pop or imap it would be great but it does sooo much

Try and plug in your usb cord after your computer boots up.

I've tried this, both with and without it plugged in when booting - no difference. Let's just say I'm no rookie to troubleshooting
